This might be the hardest 3-day weekend I’ve ever had to return from. During this quarantine time of our lives, if you are still employed and working 9-5 on the weekdays, you know you haven’t felt right asking for PTO. Am I right? Monday was actually a holiday so most of us got to enjoy a weekday without having to work. And you know what? I loved every minute of it. Do you think it’s cool to start asking for PTO from your boss yet? I know I’m overthinking it but aren’t you too? I mean, there’s not even that much I would do right now but escaping work emails and expectations would be dope on a weekday that isn’t a holiday. But let’s be real…. I’m as loyal to the grind as they come so I’ll just put my headphones on and work. I bet most of you reading this are cut from the same cloth so you know what’s up.
Alright… Gotta check into work in less than an hour. No more mismanaging my time as I have to focus and get my corporate work hat on. To get my mind right I need some hip hop instrumentals. But what do I pick? Am I in a somber mood? Nope! Do I need an abstract type beat? Nope! Am I into some lofi hip hop feels right now? Nah! Right now I need some good jazzy hip hop beats from an OG in the game who knocks out beats in his sleep. I gotta start my day with my main man Pete Rock who dropped his Return of the SP1200 instrumental album last year that was fire. One song in particular is my jam though. I’m not sure how many times I’ve listened to it in its entirety (kids, that’s from beginning to end) but I’m going to say at least 50 times. If I can you to listen to it once I bet you’ll get it in rotation too. Here is “Kool Jazz” from Pete Rock.
