With Mac Miller’s team finally getting his masterpiece mixtape Faces up on Spotify, I’ve been going back through the mixtape and some unreleased gems from Malcolm. One of my favorites is his track with the Migos called “Jabroni” with The Alchemist on production. Mac always had good relationships with peeps in the music industry so when he linked up with the likes of Juicy J, Rick Ross, Future, or Lil Wayne it wasn’t a surprise. You could tell that everybody f*cked with Mac because he was just a cool ass dude. Shout out to Cam’ron who Mac rapped with a couple of times. I hadn’t even heard this track until now and that just speaks to the large catalog that Mac has.
I always wondered how Mac got these great features and while we’ll never know, I think it was simply because he was a trustworthy cat who was respected from the underground all the way up to the mainstream. Sure he never had a Drake or Jay feature but he did snag a legend on “Insomniak” with none other than the biggest boss of em all, Rick Ross.
But this Mac and Migos track always left me with questions. Was it really an ALC track that never made one of his albums? Is there any way that Mac and Migos got in the studio together? Does Mac have additional songs in the secret stash with Migos and ALC? The way that ALC stays recording just like Mac I wouldn’t be surprised if they had an EP kickin it somewhere that will never see the light of day. Was “Jabroni” ever released on a project? I don’t think so… who even leaked it to the net? Well, it doesn’t matter because it’s out in existence and we get Mac and Migos on a hard ass instrumental from ALC. if you haven’t heard it, give it a peep. Well worth the 3 minutes of your time today.
