Any day you get a surprise album with Alchemist beats and Freddie Gibbs rhymes is a good day. Sprinkle in some Griselda features from Benny the Butcher and Conway the Machine and I’m a happy man. But oh wait… We got Rick Ross and Tyler, The Creator on here too? Okay…. I see what’s going on here. Trying to take the game over with this and I’m here for all of it. I love Gangsta Gibbs’ work with Madlib on that jazzy hip hop tip but sometimes I need my music to be a bit more gully and ALC will bring you that fire on the production. I’m trying to recall the first time Gibbs and ALC linked up. It was the song “Fetti” with Curren$y off of ALC’s Welcome to Los Santos album right? I’m pretty sure it was. Here's the song… If I blew this one please let me know so in the comments!
Or wait…. Maybe they first recorded on the Curren$y and ALC album Covert Coup? Oh man… I can’t remember which came first but the moral of this story is that this trio had chemistry. That Covert Coup album was so damn hard! Can we get that on Spotify already?? The instrumentals are cool and all but I want those Curren$y slow flow type bars. Here is “Scottie Pippens” off of Covert Coup.
After these 2 songs it was clear now… When these guys got on a track together the result was straight flames. So why not double down and drop a full album? That’s exactly what they did in 2018 with the album, Fetti. And oh man… That song “Location Remove” is on another level.
Yesterday, Freddie Gibbs and Alchemist dropped a surprise single and video on us so let’s cut the small talk and just get you to that. Here is “1985” in case you haven’t seen it. Excellent intro…
And now today we get the full album called Alfredo. Great release strategy by the homies. Below is a playlist where I tried to pack in all of the times Gibbs and ALC worked with each other. Perfect time to jump into some heat rocks. Enjoy!
